"Growing up, I spent nearly every weekend at Salmon Creek outside Bodega Bay or Drakes beach at Point Reyes National Seashore.
My mom grew up in Inverness and Drakes’ was also her childhood beach. I swam competitively at UC Santa Cruz and used to swim along the beaches of Monterey Bay for fun. Since becoming a father, I take my daughter to Pacifica State Beach (with its famous beachside Taco Bell). For inland waterways, my dad used to take me to Mt. Shasta and I grew up rafting and playing near the headwaters of the Sacramento River. Open water swimming has been a constant in my life, and one that I cherish. "
