"Some of my fondest childhood memories
revolve around water. Growing up in Annapolis, Maryland, I lived along the Severn River, which flows into the Chesapeake Bay—the largest estuary in the United States. Home to over 3,500 species of plants and animals, the Bay shaped much of my connection to the environment. When we weren't on the Severn, my family could usually be found at the nearest beach along the Atlantic Ocean. Fast forward to today, living in San Diego, I am surrounded by another diverse ecosystem that continues to bring me immense peace, comfort, and curiosity!"
