Water Foundation CEO Wade Crowfoot issues statement in support of Governor Brown’s proposed 2018-2019 budget

SACRAMENTO — Water Foundation Chief Executive Officer Wade Crowfoot released the following statement following Governor Jerry Brown’s release of his administration’s proposed budget for 2018-19.

“Governor Brown’s proposed budget safeguards California’s water future. It invests in smart, multi-benefit flood protection projects, enables local efforts to manage groundwater supplies for future use, and restores critical water bodies such as the Salton Sea. These investments will help California’s communities and natural places thrive. His budget also ensures that all Californians have access to clean and safe drinking water by enabling treatment of contaminated drinking water supplies across the state. In doing so, the governor tackles a pressing human rights issue by providing clean and safe water for upwards of one million Californians that currently lack access to it.

“As climate change drives more intense droughts and flooding, California’s leaders need to work together, make smart investments, and embrace new approaches to managing water. Governor Brown—in his final annual budget—continues to lead these efforts toward a more resilient and prosperous water future for California.”
